Blog update: New layout

No response, Mar 09, 2008 I Blogging, Site News.

In an unexpected stint of house keeping, I decided to updated to a newer version of Wordpress - just using Bluehost’s auto update function. Now, whilst doing this I realised that my old template was getting old; the new version of the otherwise stunning Vistered Little theme was performing even slower than the last, so I set out on search for a new template.

I finally found Yichi’s Resurrection - which is fast performing and very beautiful. A couple of things were broken due to it not being a WP2.3 template, however when I got rid of the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin and replaced it with Reciprocity’s Configurable Tag Cloud - things were much better.

I also set up a twitter account, which looks like an interesting thingie - I will see how I go with it, on top of Facebook, Google Talk and other places to set my current status. :)

Carbon Neutral

Well, about 6 months ago we signed up both of our cars plus household wastage on http://www.carbonneutral.com.au/ . Electricity is already on green. Would like to plug their site as it’s a great initiative!

If we weren’t renting I’d love to get a solar panel set up. However I settled for getting the air leakage into the garage fixed up; the gaps around this sliding door were big enough to poke a finger through. Got a door specialist to do a perfect install of air blockers to prevent this huge energy loss so that we’re all ready for the winter. It’s pretty mind boggling how bad the house construction standards are here in Australia. :(

Also, just noting that Rudd’s first action as incumbent Prime Minister was to sign Australia’s ratification of the Kyoto agreement. Well done.

A much niceR Civic

I went to the Melbourne Car Show 2007 today and got a few shots. Others have covered the details much better than I could, but I find the Type R Civic - which will arrive here in a few months - having an incredible appeal. Plus, it’s got to be one of the strongest 2.0 naturally aspirated engine ever built (for a hatch, that is - the S2000 clearly leaves it in the dust).

Resurrected

No response, Sep 07, 2006 I Site News.

In the year of 2000 I previously had a hand made “blog” (although I wasn’t aware of that term back then) with lots of pictures from Melbourne that I took in my early days here. After some time offline, I thought it was time to bring it back to life. Whilst I probably won’t post too much of that early content, it is good to have my online playground back online.

So - funkdancer.com is resurrected. Over the next few weeks I’ll do the site up properly. For now it is just a placeholder. Cheers!

I have chosen the awesome “Vistered Little Theme” for the blog. Click on those little squares to select your background image. In Firefox it renders perfectly, but MSIE7 gives horisontal scrollbars. Oh well.
